Success - Paradigm shift your life

I always love stories of people that radically change their lives and shift a paradigm in the process. A paradigm is when a situation is seen in one specific way and a paradigm shift is when something happens that radically changes your perception and creates a new reality.

Having traveled so much and continually reengineered my life and even my persona I love this concept so let us explore an example. For many people, financial freedom (enough passive income not to have to work) is viewed as some kind of impossibility reserved only for millionaires many times over, but the paradigm is around the fact that most people only focus on the revenue side not on the cost side.

Many people could be financially free right now if they paradigm shifted the normal life without doing anything on the revenue side.

A friend of mine made some sensible property investments and now owns two properties. With some delayed gratification and some manual labour these two properties now supply a modest passive income stream. By rejecting the norms of society expectations of building more and more wealth, he has stripped out his ongoing cost base and lives a very simple, financially free existence.

Another example comes from my parents; the paradigm is that when you retire you settle into your house and gradually grow old… My parents decided that rather than this way of life, they would get rid of all possessions and simply travel which they have been doing for 18 years. They remain exceptionally fit and healthy both mentally and physically, and everyone assumes they must be millionaires to do what they do. They simple shifted a deep seated society paradigm…

So be aware of the endless possibilities that are out there!!!

Success to Significance
Saturday, April 5th, 2008

“Success to Significance” by Bob Burford is an insightful book that was given to me by a good friend and mentor. He is coming up to his 68th birthday and is currently Chairman of 4 publicly listed companies. He suggested this book with a twinkle in his eye….

I thought I would share with you some aspects that I have found compelling…

The main theme of the book is that people tend to spend the first half of their life being very goal driven and often searching for material wealth and power as a sign of success. The book then promotes the idea that at the “half time” period you will then have the internal niggle that the main driver of humans is to be of significance and if you listen and act then you will enter into a very fulfilling part of life.

Intriguing. I will tell you more over the next few days as I continue you reading “Success to Significance”

How to keep your team motivated
Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Today’s health tip comes from Chris Males. Chris is an expert in the field of keeping staff motivated and productive, and keeping yourself motivated (which can often be even harder!)

So today I wanted to share his chapter “Corporate Health Fix”, in this chapter he explains the benefits of having healthy staff members and how fitness can increase productivity and reduce absenteeism in corporate businesses. Although Chris started with no business experience, but plenty of fitness knowledge, he has gone on to make a big impact in the Australian workplace.

And if you are interested in starting a business in the health industry or want to know the benefits of having a healthy team, then you need to read this chapter.
